Fall in Maine

It's a rainy day here in Boston; dark, cloudy and there is a chill in the air. While it's a much needed break from the dry and scorching heat this summer has brought, to the sun worshippers, this is an unpleasant sign of what mother nature has in store for us. September is only one week away and before you know it you'll be bringing in the BBQ, covering up the patio furniture and hunkering down for another New England winter.

To me, this damp and overcast day is a welcomed sight. It means that one of New England's most beautiful seasons is only a few weeks away. Maine is truly spectacular in the fall. The colored leaves are breathtaking, the air is energizing and every quaint town has something special to offer its visitors.

Let's be honest, you need a break from the rat race (yes, I know you just got back from the beach but stay with me here). Picture yourself in a cozy fleece, sipping hot apple cider, strolling along a tree lined street in a picturesque Maine town. Sound good?

Stop by a local chili and chowder stand at the harvest fest in Bethel, visit the apple festival in Rangeley lakes, attend a county fair, pumpkin carving event, or stop into an antique shop and art gallery. The hiking trails are gorgeous for anyone looking for quality leaf peeping or take a scenic driving tour!

The best part about traveling to Maine in the fall? You'll miss the sea of tourists snapping photos and wandering around aimlessly. The crowds have all left allowing you to enjoy the beauty and serenity that makes Maine one of a kind.

Sunny summer days = better then expected tourism for Maine

This summer might just be one of the most beautiful summers that I can remember. In Boston there were days on end of upper 90s with scorching sun rays, but along the coast in Maine, sea breezes made the temperature nearly perfect. Its no wonder that Maine's tourism industry received a boost from last year.
